The choice of durability with the ‘IMAGE’IN’ seaside planter
Fibre cement, a material that is totally insensitive to saline environments
Our IMAGE’IN planters are made from fibre cement, a particularly durable material that’s ideal for outdoor planters exposed to sea spray. Fibre cement is frost-proof, rot-proof and non-combustible (classified M0 / A2-s1,d0 according to EN 13-501-1). It is also unaffected by salty or even chlorinated environments, making it the ideal material for use by the sea or around swimming pools.
Although fairly heavy, the advantage of this material is that pots are perfectly stable in windy conditions. Finally, fiber cement has low thermal conductivity, which is also an advantage in regions with high temperatures.
The ‘IMAGE’IN’ seaside planter was a natural choice for this terrace design project. The dual objective here was to create a privacy screen behind the glass railings, without obstructing the magnificent view of the sea! To achieve this, slender planters with a height of 50cm were chosen to minimise the space required on the ground.
Fibre cement is also environmentally friendly
Eternit fibre cement is a mineral material that contributes to eco-construction thanks to its intrinsic qualities. Our supplier Eternit is itself eco-responsible, with ISO14001 certification. The fibre cement manufacturing process is non-polluting. Eterboard® fibre cement board is made from a mixture of cement, mineral fillers, natural fibres and additives. Its composition makes it perfectly ecological throughout the manufacturing, installation and deconstruction cycle. It can easily be recycled as inert rubble. By way of example, our material off-cuts, if not reusable in new products or for the production of samples, are recovered as rubble by a local earthworks company.
We produce all our IMAGE’IN planters to order in France, in our workshop in Touraine.
You choose the shape, dimensions, options, colour and finish. Colourfastness over time is also a very important factor in longevity. To achieve this, we use two-component polyurethane paints and varnishes. This ‘car-type’ system with ‘primer + paint + varnish’ guarantees excellent UV resistance.
On this layout project, there was a problem with the continuity of the visual break in the corner of the terrace behind the offset parasol. As there wasn’t enough space to position the planters, a made-to-measure aluminium sheet cladding was developed. This is hooked onto the back of the adjoining planters. In the corner, an adjustable foot takes up the load, ensuring perfect alignment.

Water management
The base of the pots is draining. Perforations on the bottom allow any excess water to drain away under the planter.
Options
Horticultural drainage system with water reserve ref. “IOP-SH”;
Raised base to reduce the volume of soil and the load on the terrace ref. “IOP-FR”;
Installed on adjustable feet and pads: lifts the planters off the ground and ensures perfect alignment.
